Introduction
Shakespeare wrote many plays in his lifetime; some are now thought to be written in conjunction with others.  “The Tempest” is thought to be the last one he wrote entirely by himself.  It is also one of the only ones that Shakespeare wrote that was wholly original as most of his works were remakes and updates.  “The Tempest” is based on Colonial travel/colonization that was being attempted during this time period.  Just about every character at some point day dreams about what they would do if they were king on the play’s island.
